UNIVERSAL PRE-KINDERGARTEN
EPK / UPK FREE tuition

Our Pre-Kindergarten early childhood education program focuses on kindergarten readiness and critical skills necessary for future success. This program recognizes the importance of child care, family care, and our early education system as integral parts of early childhood development. Our Universal Pre-K program is for all children turning 3 and 4 years old by December 1st of their enrollment year. We adhere to the Rochester City School District calendar and are open 180 days during the school year from September to June. The program is a 6-hour program, which begins at 8:30 am and ends at 2:30 pm.

School Age
(5 years to 12 years)

The expeditionary enrichment experience is designed to help children develop a stronger sense of who they are in character building. Children learn to respect their bodies, their minds, their neighbors and their environment. We strive to promote a sense of daily personal responsibility. Through this program, conducted by qualified teachers and assistants, youth will expound in education, learn life skills,

improve social skills, learn about creating and discovering expeditionary learning with field studies, nutritional health with culinary, cultivate experiences in job readiness skills to receive exposure to the world of work, and much more. We want to impact your youth’s life by modeling love, character, and integrity. Activities will include both youth-initiated and teacher-directed activities, training them properly to become secure, happy, healthy adults prepared for success and achievement. We believe they need guidance in developing their greatest potential, and quality reliable programming to continue their development.

Summer Enrichment Camp and Holiday Recess Programs

On school holidays and during the summer months is a full day campership program with a host of activities at the Center as well as frequent outings and field studies trips. We assist children in setting positive and ambitious goals for their lives and help them develop realistic plans for achieving these goals.

Infant / Toddlers / Twos Continuity of Care Program

Continuity of care is the consistent and uninterrupted provision of care and support for a child by the same caregiver or team of caregivers over an extended period. The program is structured to provide for mixed-age groups within the same classroom. Children can enter into the program as infants or toddlers and as children reach 36 months of age they can enter our Preschool program. Our classrooms accommodate the needs of the different age groups, and the teacher/child ratio applies to the youngest child in the group, with a 2:8 teacher/child ratio. Caring and Sharing Child Care Center encourages keeping infants, toddlers, and two’s together in the same classroom with the same teachers for a continuous span of time or longer. This allows children to develop a positive, stable relationship with other children and the teacher. This approach emphasizes building strong relationships between caregivers and children, promoting stability, trust, and a sense of security for the child. Continuity of care aims to minimize disruptions in the child’s routine and environment, facilitating healthy development and emotional well-being.

Highscope
Preschool Curriculum

Highscope Curriculum is play-based supported through research to prove that child centered classrooms that promote active learning is key to positive child outcomes. Children explore, have opportunities for creative imagination, skill building, problem solving, and gaining independence. Parents, family members, and outside resources create a partnership to expand children’s learning through parent events and workshops for parents to gain a greater understanding of the program, Highscope Curriculum and to give input on how their child’s developing.

Welcome to our Infant-Toddler Classroom, where we embrace the philosophy of Continuity of Care — ensuring that children remain with the same trusted caregivers from 6 weeks to 2 years old. This approach allows our teachers to build deep, meaningful relationships with each child and family, creating a consistent, secure, and nurturing environment.

Research shows that children thrive when they form strong, stable attachments with their caregivers. These early bonds foster trust, confidence, and emotional security — empowering children to explore their world, develop independence, and build a positive sense of self.

When children complete our Infant-Toddler program, they transition seamlessly into our Universal Pre-Kindergarten classroom, carrying with them the confidence, curiosity, and security built during their earliest years at Caring and Sharing.

Welcome to our Preschool Classroom, where learning comes alive for our curious and enthusiastic 3-year-olds! Our preschool program operates Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., in partnership with the Rochester City School District.

Using the HighScope curriculum, our teachers create a balance of structure, exploration, and play. HighScope is a research-based approach built around eight core learning areas — Language and Literacy, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Creative Arts and Music, Approaches to Learning, Social-Emotional Development, and Technology.Through observation and intentional teaching, educators design daily lessons that reflect each child’s interests, while incorporating learning standards and key developmental indicators to support every learner’s growth.

Our classroom is thoughtfully arranged with engaging learning centers — including areas for Science, Math, Literacy, Writing, Art, Dramatic Play, Blocks and Construction, Sand and Water Exploration, Manipulatives, and Technology. Each center is designed to promote independence, creativity, and discovery through hands-on experiences.

At Caring and Sharing, our goal is to spark curiosity, inspire confidence, and nurture a lifelong love for learning. We want every child to leave our preschool classroom excited about what they’ve learned — and eager to learn even more.

The HighScope approach emphasizes active participation, where children learn through hands-on experiences guided by eight key areas of development: Language and Literacy, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Creative Arts and Music, Approaches to Learning, Social-Emotional Development, and Technology.

INFANT TODDLER CONTINUITY OF CARE CLASSROOM

Welcome to our Infant Toddler classroom where we offer continuity of care. Continuity of Care is a classroom that a child can remain with the same teacher until they are 3 years old, at which they can enter into our Universal Pre-Kindergarten program. The goal of continuity of care is to have children grow and develop with the same primary caregivers. Research has shown that children benefit from building early secure relationships with adults. The strong relationship formed provides a foundation for success. Secure attachments enable children to have trust in their surroundings, explore their world with confidence and develop a positive sense of self.

JUNIOR ACADEMY CENTER

Welcome to our Junior Academy Center. Caring and Sharing Junior Academy Center, provides year-round services for all children before and after school, during school breaks, vacations and summer recess. The Junior Academy Summer Enrichment Program provides academic support throughout the school year and summer months through expeditionary learning field studies, the arts or with a cooking project which keep skills sharp and current in contrast to youth who are not academically engaged all year long and during the summertime. By contrast, children who are not engaged in learning through the summer typically lose up to three months of learning, which has to be retaught each new school year taking up to six weeks of valuable instructional time just to review what was previously learned. Enrichment experiential learning and field studies keep youth interested as they focus on fun and educational themes often in the Finance, STEM Science, Technology, Culinary and Social Studies content areas.
